Club Nintendo: is there any interest from Nintendo about having an official presence in Mexico?
Reggi: We think that with the people in seattle and Motta (official distributor of Nintendo products in Mexico and Latin America) working together is the most effective way of working for the Latin American and Mexican market for now and sales have proven that.
CN: are the rumors about a new version of the game boy, called ‘Evolution’ True?
R: We’re always working in the next version of our systems and now we’re focused on Revolution, Are working in a new version of the Game Boy? Yes, but we don’t have an official name or lauch date for now, but we’re always working in new and innovative concepts to bring something different.
CN: What are plans from Nintendo to regain their lost terrain and become number one in mexico again?
R: I’ll answer that in two parts.
1) We had a great year in sales in mexico, while the competence is always making “Noise” in their campaigns, we focused in offering attractive plans and the sales went up.
2) How are we going to continue? We’ll give great support to the GCN with new attractive prices and new titles, with the DS we have the chance to launch it with lots of new titles and for the GBA we have some new things like Pokemon and some new licenses.
In resume, we’ll have lots of new things for all the consoles to make 2005 a successful year.
CN: When are we going to see a REAL “online” strategy for Nintendo systems.
R: We’ll be talking about online in the Next E3. even tough we’ll be given some information before the show.
CN: Is Nintendo planning to launch more “mature” and “Teen” titles?
R: Yes, In the case of “Mature” we are working internally with other developers to make sure that great titles are developed for this segment of the market. Take Resident Evil for example, it shows that there are people interested in this type of titles in the Nintendo Gamecube. Something that Mr. Iwata and Mr. Miyamoto have realized is that these kind of games can be successful and we we’ll continue releasing these kind of games through the licenses (im guessing they mean through 3rd party collaborations) and we’ll continue making titles like Mario, Metroid, Donkey Konga, etc
CN: is Nintendo Showing the Revolution at E3?
R: Yes, we’re showing it.
CN: Will it be playable or just Exhibition?
R: I cant answer you that. Nintendo always reserves the information until the last moments to avoid the competence copying our innovations like: Wireless controllers, multiplayer games, etc. But I assure you, the things you’ll see with the “Revolution” are more than you can imagine.
CN: What’s Nintendo’s stance on situations like RE4’s that were announced exclusive as a Nintendo title and now they’re not?
R: RE4 stills an Exclusive GCN title and we’ll see what happens when they release it for the competence, how does it looks and what are its advantages, since this game was created to take advantage of the Gamecube’s Hardware and it will probably not be the same. The question should be if we’re going to keep working with the developers in exclusive titles like that and the answer is yes.
CN: Are 3rd party developers working in Revolution titles?
R: We’ve given some information to the 3rd party developers so they can start working. We’ll talk about this at GDC in San Francisco in March, there we’ll have the chance to share more information.
